Improve Your SEO in 5 Easy Steps

Posted by liveBooks

There are many ways to improve your Site performance in the SEO ranking game. Here’s a flying start with 5 Things You Can Do Today To Better Your SEO performance.

1) Key Word Strategy
2) Submit Your Site to Google
3) Site Title
4) Site Description
5) Analyze Results

Key Word Strategy

Decide what terms you would like to come up for on searches. What are your customers searching for online? Typically this is the city or state where your business is located, plus your specific industry. eg ‘Miami Wedding Photographer’ or ‘New York Commercial Photographer’.

At this time it might be hard to compete with more general search terms, so try to get as specific and as local as you can at first.

Use Googleʼs Search-based Keyword Tool to help refine your strategy.

Submit Your Site to Google and Other Search Engines

This may seem pretty obvious, but many people are not doing it:
a) Add your URL at Google
b) Submit your site to local search as well
While you at it, also add to Bing and Yahoo.

Site Title

Your site title should reflect the key term you are wanting to be found for. The title should be minimal and specific. Search engines are looking at your site title and comparing it to what the search is as a percentage.

Site Description

Your siteʼs description should be relevant to what you are showing on the site. Keep your key terms to the front of the description. This is your chance to also sell a searcher on choosing your site in a listing, as the site description will most likely be the snippet that Google will use in results page for your listing.

Analyze Results

Use Google Analytics to measure your results: www.google.com/analytics/ The analytics will allow you to see how people are coming to your site, what pages they are viewing, how long they are staying, which pages they are exiting from and what search terms brought them to your site. Information is a good thing here and making sure you are measuring and adjusting your strategy is important.

The liveBooks editSuite allows you to control this information easily, so you can adjust your strategy as you are seeing results.

SEO is a marathon…it is not a sprint!  So realize that this will take some time, but having a solid foundation and understanding the good practices will help immensely in achieving results!

Robert Maddison, Not The Starving Artist

Most artists seem to have problems with coming to terms with marketing their work. They seem to have a blind spot when it comes to making money from their talents. They will tell you that this is the norm for artists, and that ALL artists struggle with business, so it is good to see somebody trating their art with the respect that it deserves
